The Lord Shrewsbury
is an impressive looking building which started
life as a coach house and stables owned by the Earl of Shrewsbury, who
himself gained fame for founding Alton Towers.

It has now been a pub for
over 150 years but was only given its present name by the current owners,
Andrew and Paula Price, on their arrival in Spring 2003. Ably assisted by
various family members in the running of the pub, one of the first things
they did was completely refurbish the interior to create a plush, modern,
city-style environment with high quality décor and furnishings.
Open all day
through the main tourist season, food is served all day too with a regular
printed menu supplemented by a specials board. Meals can be enjoyed in the
main restaurant or throughout the other
bar areas, and children are welcome.
A well stocked cellar offers a minimum of three real ales, together with
other beers, lagers and much more.
Conveniently located for Alton Towers, and for exploring the delightful
Staffordshire countryside and the Peak District, there are 6, comfortable
en-suite guest rooms with plans for creating a further
4. Rates are the
same throughout the year and include a hearty breakfast.
